We understand that you may have some questions about us here at Phoenix so we have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions we get a Phoenix.  If we haven’t answered your question here, please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

What is the benefit working with a Personal Trainer?

Working with a Personal Trainer at Phoenix will ultimately speed up your results.  The most valuable part of working 1 to 1 with a Personal Trainer is accountability and regular assessments of your progress. By working closely throughout the length of your journey and assessing along the way, we can make adjustments to your technique, exercise selection, nutrition, etc, to ensure that you are always progressing towards your end goal.

Our trainers are highly experienced, and your results are our highest priority.  Our trainers will take all of the confusion out of your journey and ensure that you understand exactly why you are doing what you’re doing.  This encourages you to work harder, but also smarter.

Is my fitness level high enough to work with a Personal Trainer?

We hear this a lot.  ‘’I need to work on my fitness before I see a PT’’.  Our trainers are very skilled at creating workouts which suit your current levels of ability.  By working out where the weak links are in your current fitness via assessments at the start (cardiovascular fitness, structural balance, flexibility/mobility in specific joints/movement patterns etc), we are able to create programmes which will speed up your progression so that no session is ever wasted and you are forever moving towards your goal.

One other thing to bear in mind is injury prevention.  It is no good working on your own as a beginner if you run the risk of injuring yourself in the process or following workouts which have no real purpose or end goal in mind.  By working with a PT from the start, we can create good habits and ensure a smooth progression throughout.

How many times each week should I work with a Personal Trainer?

This very much depends on your goals, motivation, budget, and lifestyle, but ideally you should exercise 4-5 times per week, especially if your job is sedentary, however this does not have to be with a Personal Trainer the entire time.

Our trainers work hard to ensure that you understand what you should be doing, and how you should be doing it whether you are in a session with a PT or training in a gym on your own.  Our trainers create your entire exercise programme, taking all of the above in to consideration, to ensure you are working towards your goals, and able to comfortably work the training frequency in to your own schedule.

How many sessions should I purchase?

The number of sessions you purchase is completely up to you, however it is important to establish at the very beginning what you are expecting to get out of the programme.  We’d be lying if we told you that you could get the Physique of Arnold Schwarzenegger from 1 PT session.  The most important thing is to be honest and transparent with your expectations, we can then work hard to ensure you maximise your results within the number of sessions purchased.

I am a little apprehensive about Personal Training; what is a “typical” session like?

The most important thing to consider is that we are all different, and as such there is no ‘typical session’.  The session will be created for you, and you will follow a programme which is appropriate for your current level of ability and position in your journey.

On day 1 we would never push you to breaking point, we would teach you how to prepare for your workouts, go through some basic movement patterns to establish your ability, and teach you how to stretch effectively.  Your programmes would then be created from this.

At Phoenix, we ensure that you are training smartly and we take great care when devising your training plans, this hugely lowers the risk of injury and also ensures you progress in the fastest way possible.

I want to lose weight; can a Phoenix Performance help me with that?

Weight loss is the number 1 reason why most of our clients come to see us here at Phoenix, however we prefer the term ‘Fat Loss’.  If you were to chop your arm off, or starve yourself for 1 month you would lose weight, but you wouldn’t be better off for it, so we train our clients with health in mind.

By working towards a state of good health, and also ensuring we maintain lean muscle mass, we ensure that you remain in the best state of health possible and as a result Fat Loss will be easier to attain.

If you follow the correct training and nutritional strategies you will be surprised at just how quickly you can lose body fat.

Do you give me advice on Diet?

Yes absolutely! Diet is one the most important factors to achieving your results and we will work closely with you to ensure that you are eating the right foods.  There is no diet plan which is perfect for everyone, it depends on a whole host of factors.  Working with a Personal Trainer, we can get down to the detail of your nutritional habits and needs to create a nutrition plan which is perfect for you.

The most important thing to consider when choosing a nutrition plan, is to choose one which you know you can implement in to your lifestyle.  The best food plan in the world will be useless if not followed, and we understand that.  We will work closely with you to ensure that we create a food plan which suits you best to yield the greatest results.

Is there a money back policy?

Yes, we are very confident in our ability to get great results and our Personal Training Programmes come with a 100% money back policy.

If you don’t feel like you have improved after 12 weeks of working with a Personal Trainer, as long as you have followed all of the advice we have given you, we will give you 100% of your money back (of the current block of training sessions).
